Colorful Fish

This image, provided by Hongtao Yu’s lab, captures a section of embryonic stem cell-derived human brain organoids stained with antibodies against a panel of characteristic markers.  The organoid section takes on a shape reminiscent of a colorful fish. In the early induction phase, neural stem cells express different markers asynchronously. These progenitor cells adhere to a strict developmental sequence, eventually maturing into specialized neural cell types.
